We have a lot of new things going on and wines coming in so check the info below.

This month we are sharing fresh arrivals, local findings and upcoming wines
MADE IN NEW ZEALAND
FROM MATAKANA: OCTOBER 30
Alistair and Karen from October 30 wines are running the only BioGro Certfied Organic vineyard in Matakana. They are growing Gruner Veltliner , Chardonnay and Syrah grapes.

Their vineyards are inspired by the natural beauty of the Matakana landscape and have been set up with the focus on quality, biodiversity and sustainability.

Winemaking is kept simple, continuing the theme of wine should be influenced by the vineyards.

FROM WAIHEKE ISLAND: ALIBI BREWING

We like beer and we really like Alibi beers.

Founded in 2016, Alibi is a New Zealand microbrewery housed below the beautiful Tantalus Estate on Waiheke Island. They craft an ever changing range with some best classics. All unfiltered and unfined, the team at Alibi don't cut any corners for quality, highly drinkable beers. Generously canned in 440ml size, we like those a lot.

WINE 1 - Chateau Barouillet - Splash! 2020  

Fresh and crisp "Pet Nat", with flavours of citrus made from 40 YO Sémillon vines . Light, with only 10% alcohol. Notes of lemon, fresh apple and wheat beer. On the palate, it's round, richly textured and bursting with freshness.

WINE 2 - October 30 Matakana - Chardonnay 2019

Organically grown Chardonnay from a deep volcanic clay, north facing slop in the heart of Matakana, made with minimal influence.

Aromas of sweet French oak, peaches, apricots, cloves and a touch of wood smoke with a full-bodied creamy texture and flavours of roasted stone fruit, apple and brazil nut with fine tannins and a lengthy finish.

 

WINE 3 - Xavier Benier - Beaujolais Villages "Pur Jus" 2020

This Beaujolais Villages 2020 from Xavier Bénier comes from the historical part of his family vineyard and been planted 75-years ago. Fresh red fruits and strawberry nose paired with spices. The palate is  very juicy and complex with aromas of wild strawberries. The perfect red to pair with a friends meeting, an aperitif or a Chocolate dessert.
